ChicaGO the Distance Award
Established in 2024, the ChicaGO the Distance Award recognizes an event partner who helps our events go the distance year-after-year.
2025 Recipient | Gary Morgan
This year’s award goes to Gary Morgan, for his lifelong dedication to the sport and his unwavering support of the local, national and global running community. A former Olympian and longtime member of the U.S. National Team (1984–2004), Gary continues to give back through his volunteer work and ambassadorial presence at races worldwide and here in the midwest. We are honored to recognize Gary’s commitment to our industry, his consistent volunteerism, and the remarkable influence he has had on the running community. Gary truly embodies the legacy and spirit of this award!
2024 Recipient | Lieutenant Sheamus Mannion
The first recipient of this award has done just that. Lieutenant Sheamus Mannion from the Chicago Police Department has been a longstanding partner to the events consistently going above and beyond to ensure each event is successful. His commitment to our events is evident not only in his professionalism and thoroughness but also in the countless hours of personal time he dedicates to help us. Whether it’s ensuring the smooth coordination of event-day operations or stepping in to offer support during critical moments, Lieutenant Mannion has always been there, demonstrating a level of care and dedication that truly makes a difference. Moreover, Lieutenant Mannion exemplifies what it means to represent the City of Chicago and the Chicago Police Department. He has been instrumental in strengthening the relationship between public departments, community stakeholders, and the private sector. His efforts have not only enhanced the safety and efficiency of our events but also fostered a spirit of collaboration and mutual respect that is vital for our continued success.
