The event will go on rain or shine! Check the weather forecast, dress accordingly and wear comfortable shoes. At check-in you will receive a complimentary t-shirt and credential. Both must be visible at all times throughout your volunteer shift.

Do not bring personal belongings

Volunteers are discouraged from bringing personal belongings that do not fit in their pockets. Bags and backpacks are not allowed at the event, and gear check is not offered for volunteers. The event is not responsible for lost or damaged items.

Event Alert System

The color-coded Event Alert System (EAS) will communicate the status of event conditions to participants, spectators, volunteers and event staff leading up to and throughout race weekend. The levels range from Low (green) to Moderate (yellow) to High (red) to Extreme (black) based on a variety of factors, including weather conditions. The EAS level will be communicated in race week email communications, as well as at chicagomarathon.com.
