CEO & President, Chicago Event Management
Carey Pinkowski has been a leader within the running industry for over 25 years. As President of Chicago Event Management, Pinkowski is responsible for all facets of events produced by Chicago Event Management, most notably the recruitment of world-class athletes for local competition and the design of internationally renowned race courses.
Pinkowski’s leadership and knowledge have helped to grow several local road races into world-class competitions. For his efforts, he has received numerous awards including the Illinois Track & Cross Country Coaches Association Meritorious Service to the Youth of Illinois Award in 1998, Chicago Area Runners Association Gold Medal Award for Event Production in 1999, MarathonFoto/Road Race Management Race Director of the Year Award presented by Running Times magazine in 2001, Runner’s World magazine’s Best Race Director Award in 2002, the National Distance Running Hall of Fame’s prestigious Fred Lebow Award in 2004, and USA Track & Field’s Allan Steinfeld Award for Lifetime Achievement in Men’s Long Distance Running in 2009.
Pinkowski is a member of the Indiana Athletic Hall of Fame and the Running USA Hall of Champions. He also serves on the advisory board for the National Distance Running Hall of Fame, and is a member of the USA Track & Field Men’s Long Distance Running Executive Committee.
Executive Vice President, Business Development & Operations
Michael Nishi has been actively involved in the running industry since 1982 in a variety of capacities. In his current role, as Senior Vice President and Director of Business Development for Chicago Event Management, Nishi oversees the production of events for Chicago Event Management clients, with a particular focus on event operations. Nishi has worked side-by-side with Chicago Event Management President Carey Pinkowski since 1989, guiding local road races through a period of significant growth that has seen participant numbers surpass 45,000. An avid runner and cyclist, Nishi sits on the board of Girls on the Run Chicago and is a committee member at Urban Prairie Waldorf School and City Garden Pre-School in Pilsen. He and his wife Dona, and their two daughters, live in Chicago where they are active community members in their University Village/Little Italy neighborhood.
Director, Operations Management
Sean has been a CEM team member since 2000. He specializes in operations, logistics & vendor management. Outside of his work for CEM, Sean enjoys the serenity of the golf course and spending time with his family.
Senior Director, Sales & Sponsorship
Paul has been a CEM team member since August of 1999. He specializes in sponsorship and is also the Health & Fitness Expo Director. Paul started working in operations and has since worked in almost every facet of the events during more than fifteen years in the industry. Outside of his work for CEM, Paul loves spending time with his wife and three daughters, cheering for his Iowa State Cyclones, working on his yard and golfing.
Manager, Hospitality & Travel Services
Jaclyn has been a CEM team member since 2013. She specializes in hospitality and the booking and managing of all hotel and airline reservations. Outside of her work for CEM, Jaclyn likes to read and spend time with her niece.
Manager, Event Staffing & Services
Cat has been a CEM team member since 2008. She specializes in the management of event staff, merchandise and credentials. Outside of her work for CEM, Cat enjoys spending time with her family and friends and taking her puppies to the dog park.

Summer has been a CEM team member since 2010. She specializes in client strategy and brand integration. Outside of her work for CEM, Summer enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.

Eileen has been a CEM team member since 2005. She specializes in obtaining sponsors and developing partnerships with various companies for CEM events. Outside of her work for CEM, Eileen enjoys boating and biking and spending time with her three children.
Senior Manager, Charity, Community & International Programs
Sandhya has been a CEM team member since 2013. She specializes in supporting and enhancing the event experience for charities, international groups, and the local community. Outside of her work for CEM, Sandhya shows off the City of Chicago as a docent for the Chicago Architecture Foundation and enjoys exploring both the city and the world for hidden culinary and historical treasures.
Specialist, Event Participant Services
Barb has been a CEM team member since 2010. She specializes in thoughtfully and appropriately responding to the informational and diverse needs of our constituents and the public as well as raising awareness among the CEM staff of runner issues and concerns. Her philosophy is that every inquiry deserves a hearing and a thoughtful response or action. Outside of her work for CEM, Barb is a news junkie, an avid reader and a sometime supernumerary at the Lyric Opera.

Senior Director, Finance & Administration
Jenna has been a CEM team member since 2012. She specializes in finance and administration for the events CEM manages. Outside of her work for CEM, Jenna enjoys cooking and trying new restaurants. She is also an avid runner.
Ale has been a CEM team member since 2014. She specializes in the accounting aspect of various events CEM manages. Outside of her work for CEM, Ale enjoys traveling, playing volleyball, and skiing.
Janet has been a CEM team member since 2007. She specializes in design, production and photography. Outside of her work for CEM, Janet enjoys running, cooking, crafts and traveling and also spending time with friends and family.
Coordinator, Inventory Operations
Kirk has been a CEM team member since 2013. He specializes in warehouse operations. Outside of his work for CEM, Kirk enjoys cycling and the company of his family.
Manager, Operations & Distribution Services
Brad has been a CEM team member since 2008. He specializes in operations, logistics and vendor management. Outside of his work for CEM, Brad enjoys riding his Harley Davidson, cheering for the Iowa State Cyclones and weekends on the golf course.
Coordinator, Event Volunteer Programs
Melissa has been a CEM team member since 2014. She specializes in administration and communications for the volunteer program and consulting for the communications team. Outside of her work for CEM, Melissa loves traveling, going on walks with her dog and cheering on the Missouri Tigers.
Manager, Website & Communications
Alex has been a CEM team member since 2010. She specializes in communications and design. Outside of her work for CEM, Alex enjoys all things art and entertainment, exploring what’s new in Chicago and spending time with family and friends.
Director, Participant Services
David has been a CEM team member since 2005. He specializes in areas related to the participant experience and general event operations. Outside of his work for CEM, David enjoys playing music, cooking, and learning about the history of Chicago.
Specialist, Signage Production
Charles has been a CEM team member since 2015. He specializes in the production and organization of race signage. Outside of his work for CEM, Charles spends his time running and coaching. He also enjoys traveling and backpacking.
Participant Services Coordinator
Tracey has been a CEM team member since 2007. She specializes in taking special care of Participant Programs such as the Nike+ Pace Team, the Team Competitions, and the American Development Program. She also assists in the registration and print production departments. Outside of her work for CEM, Tracey enjoys spending time with her family, reading, writing, and having everlasting hope that this is the year Cubs will finally make it to the World Series.
